Here's a new Starter Ring Gear (Bolt On Type) for the following models from Standard - 

STANDARD

Standard Vanguard (Phase 3)   

(1955- 58)  (** Not for the earlier Vanguard 1 & 2 **)

Standard Sportsman Saloon 

(1955- 58)

Standard Ensign

(1955- 58)

Standard Vignale  

(1958- 61)

Standard Vanguard Six  2.0 Litre   

(1960- 63)

(** The Six model is easily identified by it's front Disc Brakes **)

This is a Bolt On Ring Gear, earlier models used a Shrink on Ring Gear - Don't be a bozo and buy the wrong one. 

This fits round your engine flywheel and the starter motor engages it's teeth to turn your engine.

With time the teeth become worn away and your starter motor will jam so that you have to rock the car back and forward in gear to free it off - then try again.

After more wear the starter motor will just skip over the teeth of the ring gear making a noise.

If either of these happen you need to buy this ring gear.
